"I'm 6 foot 5, have green eyes and a gym body!" Sounds too good to be true? Well it is I'm exaggerating on my height, fibbing on the colour of my eyes and in fact I hardly use the gym. So there you have it... If you met me after an introduction like that, you'd be utterly disappointed right?
So, when it comes to completing your online dating profile, we say highlight your best features, don't over embellish and for the best possible profile – Keep It Real! Follow my tips below to ensure your profile is as great as it can be but more importantly it's truthful.
Yes, it has been said that age is just a number, but shaving off a few years or even adding them on in order to bag someone a little younger/older isn't cool! We recommend that you remain truthful about your age as, someone who is looking for you will find you whatever your number is! Also who wants to build a relationship on a white lie? No one I imagine; be honest about your age and the right person will come to you.
You'll be totally shocked if you met me and realised I was actually only 5 foot 10! Your height is the first thing your potential date sees as they walk up to you on the first meeting and they'll be thinking "gosh 6 foot 5 is short". At the same time they'll also think if you can fib about your height, what else did you fib about...?
I've come across a few profile pictures who I've thought looked familiar, my first thought is that these people must be someone I've met somewhere, however I eventually figured it out, it's because I've seen them in a movie/music video on TV etc... A photo sells YOU to a potential date, it's your chance to ensure you get all the credit for being the wonderful person you are. So upload a real photo, no one wants to date a fake!
Yes it's true, I might be a dating guru, but did you know I play for a Premiership club....? Ok, so I don't. It'd be a shame if you wanted to come watch me on the pitch when I don't even have a season ticket! There's really no point in bending the truth about your profession, you do not have to disclose it but if you do and it's a little fib, you'll get found out eventually. So whether you're a Doctor, Marketing Assistant or even a Traffic Warden, tell the truth.
Remember the truth is the best thing about you! So let it all out there, you don't have to divulge everything as a little excitement and secretiveness is always good, but we would encourage you to ensure that you don't exaggerate things that are obviously not true. And honestly speaking who really wants a new friendship or relationship to start off on the wrong foot? So use the tips to get it right and keep it real.
Happy Dating!
