Bless Me Father For I Have Sinned: Sex, Lies and this Dating Column

It’s been over 15 years since I last went to confession. Alas I was born an Irish Catholic. Well… I wasn’t born an Irish Catholic. I was born and my mother asked my father who was at the end of the bed, “Pat! Pat! Is it a boy or a girl?” to which he replied, “Jaysus Mary it doesn’t matter. It’s a Catholic! Now get up and let’s get home so we can have some more!”

But with Catholicism comes guilt and a desire to confess. And so it is to you dear readers that I proffer my sinful soul and await your judgement.

You see, when I first started writing this column I decided to keep my identity secret. Notwithstanding the fact the editors decided, in a moment of ironic snarkiness, to plaster a photo of me next to my carefully crafted nom-de-plume, I felt that privacy was best in case I caused undue controversy or a potential date found out what I wrote.

But with fame (?) comes great responsibility.

Here it is. My name *gulp* is not Jay Sivad.

From this point on I promise to be honest and attach my real name to each article. To take full responsibility for the poisonous pleasures that leak from my pen.
