Seems the beardies from ZZ Top knew what they were talking about even if they didn't feel the need to follow their own advice.
91 percent of Americans think dressing well can make a man appear to be more physically attractive than he really is according to the latest Well-Dressed Men Survey from Kelton Research.
Furthermore 78 percent of women told the pollsters that dressing well is “one of the hottest things a guy can do”. Which suggests a certain lack of imagination in our opinion. 85 percent of women think a guy who dresses well is “sexier than one who has a lot of money” although you have to think that a lot of them are hedging their bets and secretly reckoning that the sharp guy in the suit also has more dosh in pocket than the bloke in tracksuit trousers and an old footie shirt.
The survey concludes that sharp dressed men are seen as “sexier, smarter, and more successful” and interestingly finds that eight out of ten women would accept a regular sacrifice in return for their own man sharpening up their act. Asked what sort of sacrifice they offered to give up going out for dinner, using a cell phone or, mind-blowingly “even having sex for an entire year.”
Does that mean they would give up sex for a year (surely defeating the object for our sharp-dressed hombre) or does it mean they would be prepared to have sex for an entire year. The survey wasn't clear.
One thing it did finally lay to rest though; despite Richard Gere's best efforts it turns out that women don't go for a man in uniform any more than a man in a good suit. So I guess we might as well throw out that Butlins redcoat outfit we've been saving on the off-chance.
