Profile Creation

This site is unique because you can't put yourself on there, you need to be recommended by a friend. This is however easily done. Simply fill out a form, give your friend's email and let them write a paragraph or two explaining how lovely you are. Once this has been approved by the bods at MSF you get to write a few lines in reply and the dating commences.

There's two types of seach on this site. The basic search criteria is simply age group, and location. The advanced search lets you get very specific. You can choose options on everything from appearance to your dates' views on having children in this search. You can really drill down with MSF.

MySingleFriend.com make it very clear that their site is staffed by real humans and this gives a real sense of confidence. The link with well known TV celeb Sarah Beeny underscores this - you know she wouldn't want to be associated with anything remotely fishy. This site clearly displays members last login (helping you judge genunine activity) and gives good halo.

Payment & Support

MSF allows you to pay for your membership with major all credit/debit cards but not PayPal or direct debit. We were pleased to note that our test support queries were answered swiftly and clearly by their staff.

Communications Summary

As with most dating sites MySingleFriend offers a direct messaging system via the site. The do not offer the now common function of sending winks or flirts that allow you to express an interest in people without writing a full message. We found this does not detract from the user experience.

MySingleFriend is a UK-wide site but we found their member network was largest in major cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. We also noted that most members were in the 23-40 age group.
