SpeedDater Online is the online dating arm of SpeedDater, the well known UK Speed dating events organiser founded in 2002. SpeedDater is now owned by Cupid PLC, owners of a large array of dating sites worldwide.

The Bad: DateCast feature is tantamount to spamming little tangible benefit • No mobile applications • Expensive options for paying by mobile and SMS messaging

Profile Creation

This is the online dating arm of SpeedDater events. If you've attended one of their dating events or parties then great, you're automatically signed up to the online dating site too. You'll still need to populate your profile with some personal info but that's easy and quick. Not been to an event? You can still sign up quickly and easily to browse profiles for free.

Search Style

Search options are strong for this site and allow you to be as specific as you wish when searching for dates. You can check who has viewed your profile and search for who is online now if you wish to use the live chat features.

Halo Score

On the plus side SpeedDater Online offers a phone support line which is chargeable at local rate. Also, we liked that you are able to change your communication settings to control the amount of email and messages you get via the site. You can stop your subscription online too but you cannot totally delete your profile online.

We view the DateCast feature as a negative. This feature allows you to send a single message to all members that fit a limited criteria. This is essentially spamming on a large scale and we feel that this approach will return very few positive responses.

Payment & Support

SpeedDater Online offers practically every payment option there is including credit and debit cards (not Amex), PayPal or payment via your mobile phone (at extra cost). We like that it's possible to pay by cheque if you are wary of using your cards online.

Communications Summary

Expect to see the usual array of communication methods including direct messaging and winking. You can instant message and video chat (including audio) with other members that are online.
